Sarah Cowley

Biography

Ms Cowley took up her position as the British Ambassador to Latvia on 21 May 2013. Before that, she was Deputy Head of the Commercial and Economic Diplomacy Department.

Sarah joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2005. Her FCO career has covered a wide range of roles including working on and in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Middle East issues and a secondment to the European External Action Service.

Ms Cowley started her career in the private sector and held a variety of roles in the UK and overseas before joining the FCO.

British Ambassador to Latvia

The Ambassador represents Her Majesty The Queen and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the Embassy and its Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
