Sandy Scott

Biography

Sandy took up her appointment as Deputy Ambassador at the British Embassy in Lima in June 2022.

She joined the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in 2014 after working for the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (UN) in Rome. Her roles in London and overseas have included working on Asia, human rights, conflict and stabilisation, as well as a posting in Addis Ababa as the Africa Regional Gender Adviser for the UK Conflict, Stability and Security Fund.

Her experience includes leadership, international development, crisis response, and policy and programme delivery. In addition to Spanish, Sandy speaks fluent Italian.

Sandy has always been a strong supporter of social equality and believes passionately in putting inclusion at the heart of the FCDO and its work.

Deputy Ambassador, Peru

The Deputy Ambassador is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
