Robin Milton

Biography

In January 2018, Robin Milton was appointed as Head of the UK Department for International Development’s (DFID) programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Prior to taking up his post in Kinshasa, he served as Head of DFID’s programme in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and also as Deputy Head of DFID’s programmes in Zimbabwe and Ethiopia, with a short intervening spell in London in managing the offices of DFID’s Director for East and Central Africa.

Previous to these management roles, Robin was employed still with DFID as a Social Development Adviser, working successively on country programmes in Egypt, Ghana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and the Western Balkans. He began his career in international development working for NGOs implementing street children programmes in Latin America.

Trained as a social scientist, Robin holds a BA in Social Anthropology, and a PhD in Development Studies, examining social forestry and livelihoods issues in Ghana.
