Robin Ord-Smith, MVO


Mr. Robin Ord-Smith, MVO has been Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic since June 2015. Mr Ord-Smith joined the FCO in 1989 and has served in a number of diplomatic roles at home and overseas, including in Algeria, Romania, Malaysia, Germany, Japan and Iraq.

Mr Ord-Smith has also spent time seconded to the private sector as Marketing Manager Japan for BAE SYSTEMS and to the German Foreign Ministry and as Assistant Private Secretary to His Royal Highness The Duke of York. Mr Ord-Smith was Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Tajikistan from 2012 until December 2014.

The Ambassador represents Her Majesty The Queen and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the Embassy and its Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
