Robert Ower

Biography

Robert Ower is the Deputy British High Commissioner to Samoa following his appointment in January 2022.  Prior to this, he was Head of Human Resources and Protocol in the British High Commission Islamabad.

Mr Ower joined the diplomatic service in 1986 as a registry clerk in the Department for International Development (DFID) with previous postings as Programme Manager, DFID Sudan (2008 to 2010); Office Manager, DFID Afghanistan (2006 to 2008); Relocation Manager, DFID Cambodia (2006); Office Manager, DFID Iraq (2004) and Office Manager, DFID Zambia (2002 to 2004).

Deputy High Commissioner to Samoa

The Deputy High Commissioner is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the High Commissioner. The Deputy High Commissioner is responsible for the daily management of an overseas High Commission and will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the High Commissioner as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister.
