Robert Chatterton Dickson

Biography

Robert Chatterton Dickson took up his appointment as Chargé d’Affaires of the UK Mission to Afghanistan in July 2023.

He was previously British High Commissioner to Bangladesh from 2019 to 2023, and Director in the National Security Secretariat in the Cabinet Office from 2015 to 2018. Robert was Deputy Ambassador and Chargé d’Affaires in Kabul from 2013 to 2015. He was HM Consul General in Chicago from 2010 to 2013 and HM Ambassador to the Republic of Macedonia from 2004 to 2007. He has also served in the British Embassies in Washington and Manila and worked in London on issues including counter terrorism, UN Peacekeeping, NATO, Iraq, and arms export policy.
