Lieutenant Colonel Rob Tomlinson MBE

Biography

Lieutenant Colonel Rob Tomlinson MBE took post as the UK’s Defence Attaché to Bosnia and Herzegovina in November 2011. He is a professional military engineer and logistician whose career has taken him worldwide from Canada, the US and Germany, to the Falkland Islands, Hong Kong and the Far East. He has served on operational deployments in Afghanistan, Iraq, East Africa, Macedonia, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina and has supported UK based operational activity.

Rob attended the Joint Services Advance Command and Staff College in 2007. He also has an MSc in Logistics Management and an MA in Defence Studies from Kings College London. These periods of academic study have allowed him to add theoretical depth to his considerable practical experience in the fields of Security Sector Reform, operational planning, post-conflict stabilisation and inter-agency cooperation.

Rob is married to Louise and has two teenage sons. He loves the mountains, skis badly and is a budding yachtsman.
