Richard Smith-Morgan



Richard is currently Acting Chief Risk Officer having joined UK Export Finance in January 2015 as Head of Trade Credit & Insurance before becoming Head of Corporate Risk in 2016.

Prior to joining UKEF, Richard was Chief Corporate Credit Officer for Europe & North America at ANZ Banking Group in London

Prior to ANZ, Richard spent a brief period at GE Capital, undertaking credit & risk audits following 10 years with Moody’s Corporation in a number of roles including building their European leveraged loan rating business.

Richard started his career at NatWest International – including 3 years in Paris – moving to Credit Suisse First Boston where he spent 8 years most latterly as a Managing Director within Credit Risk Management focussing on Leveraged & Acquisition finance.

Richard has a BA (Honours) from Durham University, a linguistics diploma from the University of Strasbourg and is both an Associate and Tutor of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He is currently a Non-Executive Director of the Institute of Export & International Trade.

He is married with 3 children and lives in Blackheath, South East London.
