Campbell Gemmell is current CoRWM Deputy Chair and interim Chair of the committee.
Campbell is a Partner in Canopus Scotland Consulting, Professor of Environment Policy, Regulation and Governance at the University of Glasgow, Honorary Professor in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Stirling and an Adjunct Professor in the Future Industries Institute at UniSA, Adelaide.
He has collaborated with the CRC CARE at UniSA, now at University of Newcastle, NSW. He is former CEO of the South Australian EPA (2012 to 2014) and was CEO of SEPA 2003 to 2012 and SEPA Strategy Director 2001 to 2003.
Campbell is a qualified mediator. He also chaired the South Australian State Radiation Protection Committee and was a member and Chair of the Dounreay Particles Advisory Group 2001 to 2011. He was an independent advisor to the Scottish government on underground coal gasification from 2015 to 2016 producing a report to ministers.

Interim Chair, CoRWM
The Chair ensures the quality and delivery of CoRWM’s work programme and also that all output maintains the committee’s impartiality and authority.
The Chair is responsible for:
- managing the relationship with the departments and ministers that sponsor the Committee
- making sure that CoRWM’s work programme is aligned with government programmes for radioactive waste management
The Chair is appointed for a 4-year period and is expected to spend about 1 and a half days per week on CoRWM business.
