Peter Fleet

Biography

Peter Fleet has had a successful 30 year international career with the Ford Motor Company. Peter Fleet is a former Group Vice President at Ford Motor Company, most recently serving as President of Ford Asia Pacific, and Chairman and CEO of Ford Motor China.

Based in Shanghai until 2019, Peter had full financial responsibility for all of Ford’s automotive operations and partnerships across Greater China, India, South-East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.  Leading a complex international business with revenues of thirty billion US dollars and fifty thousand employees, Peter was fully engaged in the management and optimisation of vehicle and component imports and exports across the Asia Pacific region, and with Europe and the Americas.

Peter now has a portfolio of non-executive roles.  He serves as Chairman of Sunderland-based Advanced Electric Machines (a green technology start-up, spun-out from Newcastle University); Chairman of the Retail Automotive Alliance (a joint venture of twenty-seven privately-owned independent UK motor retailers); Advisor to the CEO of RMA Group where he also sits on the Board of the parent company Clipper Holdings (RMA is a partner of leading automotive, equipment, services and hospitality brands across South-East Asia); and Consultant Advisor to Winner Imports (the authorised distributor for Jaguar Land Rover, Ford, Volvo, Porsche, Bentley and MG in Ukraine).

Our non-executives are senior figures from outside the department who bring a diverse mix of expertise and skills from across the public and private sector.

They all:

  • give guidance and advice to DBT leaders and ministers

  • support and challenge management on the department’s strategic direction

  • provide support in monitoring and reviewing progress
