Paul Williams

Biography

Paul Williams was the interim Director for Development Engagement in the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) until January 2024.

Before this Paul’s roles included:

  • Open Societies Director at the FCDO, 2020 to 2023 (Open Societies and Human Rights Director until 2022)
  • Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) from 2018 to 2020
  • Multilateral Policy Director, FCO, 2015 to 2018
  • Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State, Department for Culture, Media and Sport, 2014 to 2015

Earlier in his career Paul had a number of roles in the FCO, in particular relating to multilateral institutions and the EU. These included Paul working abroad in Berlin and New York.
