Dr Paul Cross

Biography

Dr Paul Cross is a consultant cellular pathologist, based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. He has been active in cytology and gynaecological cytology during his career and has contributed to numerous national guidance documents used in the NHS cervical screening programme in England.

Paul has been chair and president of the British Association for Cytopathology and is the current chair of the Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath) cytopathology sub-committee. He has an interest in the use of digital pathology within cytology, having helped develop a digital interpretative diagnostic external quality assessment (EQA) scheme.

Paul has been an examiner for the RCPath/Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) conjoint board for more than 15 years. He is also lead medical examiner for the European Federation of Cytology Societies quality assurance, training and examinations committee (QUATE) examination.
