Biography

Rear Admiral PA Chivers was appointed on 8 December 2015.

His previous MOD roles include:

  • Maritime Aviation Adviser PJHQ
  • Commanding Officer HMS Lancaster
  • Assistant Director for Naval Strategy, NCHQ
  • DACOS Joint Warfare Development PJHQ
  • Chief of Staff to the Commander UK Maritime Forces
  • Commanding Officer RNAS Yeovilton and Delivery Duty Holder for RN Lynx, Wildcat HMA, Grob Tutor and the Royal Navy historic flight
  • Head of Oversight and Approvals Military Aviation Authority

Director Military Aviation Authority

Director MAA responsibilities include:

  • setting regulations and providing air safety assurance to DG Defence Safety Authority
  • Senior Operating Subject Matter Expert for the Military Aviation Authority across all divisions
  • leading and directing MAA strategy and coordinate the work of the independent Military Aviation Authority
  • MOD link with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for aviation regulatory matters
  • MOD link with Industry for design, manufacturing, maintenance, modification and certification standards and Contractor Accountable Manager organisations
