Patrick Holdich OBE

Biography

Patrick is Head of Research Analysts, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

Patrick Holdich took up his post as Consul-General in Montreal in August 2009. This was his second posting in Canada after heading the Political Section at the British High Commission in Ottawa from 1992 to 1997.

He joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Research Department in 1985 as research analyst for the United States and Canada. He quickly became a leading expert in London on the politics and foreign policies of these two countries. In 1998, he was appointed Head of the Americas Research Group in the FCO, a position he occupied until 2006.

Before joining the FCO, he was a lecturer in History at Queen Mary College, London University. He was appointed in 2007 an Associate Fellow of the Institute for the Study of the Americas, London University.

Patrick is married to Stephane Dubois who is from Montreal and currently works in communications.
