Norman Harrison

Biography

Norman Harrison has been reappointed to the UK Atomic Energy Authority Board from 1 March 2019 to 28 February 2020. He is currently a Trustee and Director of the Nuclear Liabilities Fund and the Deputy Chair of the Board of Governors at Manchester Metropolitan University, he also runs his own consultancy business. He was appointed to UKAEA Board on 1 March 2016.

Career highlights:

  • 35 years’ experience in the power and nuclear power sector with experience of managing a broad spectrum of stakeholders including at senior level Governmental and regulatory bodies, both UK and international.

  • Successfully running of nuclear power stations including Heysham 1 and Sizewell B.

  • CEO of UKAEA from 2006 to 2010, where he led on the privatisation programme for UKAEA and previous to that Dounreay Director.

  • Norman is a Chartered Chemist and holds Fellowships with Nuclear Institute, Royal Society of Chemistry and Royal Society of Arts.
