Nick Payne
Biography
Nick was appointed as the NIO’s first Chief Operating Officer on 14 February 2022, and is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of corporate services, including finance, human resources, estates, digital and technology, departmental security, knowledge and information management, and communications, plus the ministerial private offices, executive support team, and parliamentary unit.
Previously, Nick was the Finance, Operations and Digital Director at the Government Legal Department, 2014 to 2022, jointly leading them through the Sharing Legal Services programme, bringing legal teams from across government into a single employer organisation, and delivering on an ambitious national estates strategy and digital and technology transformation.
Prior to that, Nick has worked in a variety of finance and commercial roles across government, in policing and the private sector.
