Nick Astbury
Biography
Nick Astbury was Deputy High Commissioner to Jamaica and the Bahamas from November 2016 to August 2020. His previous postings include Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, as well as serving as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Eritrea and as Deputy Consul-General in New York.
His assignments in the UK have included Head of the joint FCDO Sudan Unit, Deputy Head of the joint Home Office/FCDO UKvisas Department, Private Secretary to two FCDO Ministers, FCDO Press Officer and work on European Union issues.
Nick holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Arts in Legal and Political Theory from University College London, where he captained the College for Rowing. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Open University. His hobbies include travel, scuba diving, photography and reading.
