Neil O'Brien MP

Biography

Neil O’Brien was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Health and Social Care between 7 September 2022 and 13 November 2023.

He was previously Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities between 19 September 2021 and 6 July 2022.

He was first elected Conservative MP for Harborough in June 2017.

Neil was previously Special Adviser to Prime Minister Theresa May on the Economy and Industrial Strategy. Between November 2012 and July 2016 he was Special Adviser to the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne, working on the Northern Powerhouse among other projects.

Between August 2018 and July 2019, Neil was PPS to ministers at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. From November 2020 to September 2021 he was Co-Chair of the Conservative Party Policy Board, and from May 2021 he was the Prime Minister’s Levelling Up Adviser.
