Ned Holborn

Biography

Ned Holborn is a career diplomat who joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1999. Ned has had postings in Sarajevo, Bosnia, Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Santiago, Chile. His most recent posting was as Deputy Head of Mission in Caracas, Venezuela. As well as extensive experience and knowledge of Latin America, Ned has also specialised in the area of Security Policy and has acted as a key FCO adviser on European Defence issues.

Prior to joining the FCO, Ned was an army officer, with the rank of Captain, in the Light Dragoons, a Reconnaissance regiment of the British Armed Forces. He subsequently worked for a period as a political risk broker at Lloyds of London. He graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Modern and Medieval History from Trinity College, Cambridge University. He is married with a young son.
