Nathan Phillips

Biography

Nathan Phillips, CBE, is the Director for Shareholdings at the Department for Transport. He leads the corporate sponsorship of major delivery bodies including Network Rail, HS2 Ltd and National Highways. He is also the department’s Sponsor Director at Active Travel England.

Prior to joining DfT as the Airports Director in 2020, Nathan was the Director of Business and Citizen readiness and Director of Planning and Analysis at the Department for Exiting the European Union (DExEU) for 3 years. He joined DExEU from UK Government Investments (UKGI), where he led work on nuclear, postal services, rail and housing market interventions for 7 years.

Before joining the civil service in 2011, Nathan spent the first 10 years of his career at PwC and KPMG as a corporate strategy consultant in the UK and overseas.
