Professor Muffy Calder OBE

Biography

Professor Muffy Calder took up her post as Chief Scientific Adviser for Scotland in March 2012.

Professor Calder came to the Scottish government from the University of Glasgow where she continues to hold chair of Professor of Formal Methods (Computing Science).

Her research is in modelling and reasoning about the behaviour of complex software and biochemical systems using computer science, mathematics and automated reasoning techniques. Professor Calder also played a key role in establishing the British Computer Society (BCS) Academy of Computing.

In 2011 she was awarded an OBE for services to Computer Science and a Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award.
