Biography

Mike Tapp was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Home Office on 6 September 2025.

He was elected as the MP for Dover and Deal in July 2024.

The Minister’s responsibilities are:

  • Immigration Rules 
  • Border Force operations 
  • earned settlement and citizenship reform 
  • nationality 
  • Windrush and the Windrush Compensation Scheme 
  • movement of goods across the border
  • UK Visas and Immigration, HM Passport Office and EU Settlement Scheme, General Register Office  
  • oversight of existing safe routes schemes: Ukraine Family Scheme, Homes for Ukraine Scheme, Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme, Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy, Hong Kong British Nationals (Overseas), Gaza and Israel 
  • Future Borders and Immigration System and digital transformation
