Mike Hammond CBE

Biography

Mike Hammond has been Head of DFID Southern Africa since May 2014.

He has extensive experience working on international development for DFID he has headed 4 Africa Country offices (Uganda, Ghana, Rwanda and Zambia) as well as previously being Head of Evidence Department. Mike has also worked in the Caribbean and Pacific Regions.

Particular areas of policy focus have included aid effectiveness, regional integration and relationships with the BRICS (five major emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) and post 2015 agenda.

As well as working for DFID, Mike has spent time working for the Foreign Commonwealth Office, the British Council and the Voluntary Sector.
