Michelle Thorp

Biography

Michelle Thorp is currently the Global Transformation Managing Director at UK Trade and Investment (UKTI).

Michelle Thorp has 15 years’ experience in the Civil Service. After stints in international, european and domestic justice policy and various corporate roles (including as Chief Operation Officer for the Office for Criminal Justice Reform and Corporate Secretary for the Ministry of Justice), Michelle now specialises in large, complex, time critical transformation projects.

Having also worked in Japan, and Russia as a Management Consultant, Michelle spent the last five years in the Cabinet Office, leading cross-Whitehall change programmes: in the Major Projects Authority (overseeing 84 of the largest public sector projects, including the Olympics), establishing the largest Independent Shared Service Centre for Government, creating the Crown Commercial Service, and transforming the Government’s approach to Digital and Telecommunications Infrastructure. Michelle joins UKTI following a secondment to NHS England.
