Michael Cooper MA FRSA FCA FBCS MAPM

Biography

Michael Cooper is a Senior Civil Servant in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and has been Director of the UK Co-ordinating Body (UKCB) since 2007. He has also been Vice President (Finance) of BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT since 2013.

Before taking up his current post Michael served in a variety of policy and finance positions within Defra. He co-founded and chaired the network of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) paying agencies and co-ordinating bodies from the 28 EU Member States, and has also served as President of ICAEW Chartered Accountants Thames Valley.

The Director, UK Co-ordinating Body is a civil servant accountable for UKCB’s expenditure to Defra’s permanent secretary. UKCB participates directly in Defra’s planning/estimating rounds.
