Melanie Smart
Biography
Melanie took up her present position as Charge d’Affaires in San Jose in June 2015.
After joining the FCO in 2000, Melanie worked in the Middle East Department and took up her first posting in 2002 to work on the Political Section in Sofia, Bulgaria until 2006.
From 2006 until 2009 Melanie was posted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and then moved to London to the Consular Department where she was the Communications Manager for the Passport Change Programme. From 20011 to 2013 Melanie was Head of the Press Office in Kabul, Afghanistan.
She arrived in 2013 in San Jose where she was appointed to be the Deputy Head of Mission.
