Professor Melanie Jones

Biography

Melanie Jones is Professor of Economics at Cardiff University. Her research interest is in applied labour economics and focuses on labour market inequality. Melanie is currently an editor at the British Journal of Industrial Relations, Member of the Economic and Social Research Council Grant Assessment Panel C and Royal Economic Society Council, and an IZA and ONS Research Fellow. She has previously advised the Welsh Government on Teachers Pay.

The Member of the Review Body on Doctors’ and Dentists’ Remuneration is independent. Its role is to make recommendations to the Prime Minister, the Secretary of State for Health, the First Minister and the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing of the Scottish Parliament, the First Minister and the Minister for Health and Social Services in the Welsh Assembly Government and the First Minister, Deputy First Minister and Minister for Health, Social Services and Public Safety of the Northern Ireland Executive on the remuneration of doctors and dentists taking any part in the National Health Service.
