Biography

Matthew Patrick was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Northern Ireland Office on 7 September 2025. He was elected as the MP for Wirral West in July 2024.

Prior to becoming an MP, Matthew worked in financial services and energy regulation.

Ministerial Responsibilities

  • Lead on economic growth.
  • Lead on public service transformation.
  • Support the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in engagements with the NI Executive.
  • Support the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland with external affairs and engagement with stakeholders across Northern Ireland.
  • Support the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland on national security, legacy, and political stability as required.
  • Support the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland on the NIO’s parliamentary activity in the Commons.
