Matthew Patrick MP

Biography

Matthew Patrick was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Northern Ireland Office on 7 September 2025. He was elected as the MP for Wirral West in July 2024.

Prior to becoming an MP, Matthew worked in financial services and energy regulation.

Ministerial Responsibilities

Lead on economic growth.
Lead on public service transformation.
Support the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in engagements with the NI Executive.
Support the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland with external affairs and engagement with stakeholders across Northern Ireland.
Support the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland on national security, legacy, and political stability as required.
Support the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland on the NIO’s parliamentary activity in the Commons.
