Dame Martina Milburn DCVO CBE
Biography
Dame Martina was appointed Chair of the Social Mobility Commission on 13 July 2018.
She has been Chief Executive of The Prince’s Trust Since 2004, where she has led work to remove barriers that many young people still face, including supporting more than 100,000 young people through ‘Achieve’ - an education programme helping those at risk of exclusion from school - and leading projects to improve young people’s emotional wellbeing and resilience.
Dame Martina oversaw the Prince’s Trust expansion by integrating Fairbridge person development programme and Mosaic, a mentoring initiative, extending links with young people from deprived inner-city areas and those from Muslim communities.
She was previously Chief Executive of BBC Children in Need and of the Association of Spinal Injury Research, Rehabilitation and Reintegration.
