Biography

Mark Southgate is currently Director of Major Applications and Plans at the Inspectorate with responsibility for the casework administration of major applications under the national infrastructure regime (2008 Planning Act), local plans and the proposed measures for major planning applications under the Growth and Infrastructure Bill, where local authorities have been designated as poorly performing and developers opt to apply direct to the Planning Inspectorate. He is a chartered town planner with over 20 years’ experience in local government, non-governmental organisations and government agencies as well as the Civil Service.

The Planning Inspectorate deals with all planning appeals in England and Wales, including national infrastructure planning, listed building appeals and rights of way orders.
