Mark Power
Biography
Mark Power was appointed Chief People Officer at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in May 2025.
Mark has served in senior Civil Service roles, including previously as Principal Private Secretary to the Lord Chancellor and Deputy Prime Minister and Director for Private Offices and Parliament in the Ministry of Justice from 2023 to 2025. Before that Mark was Geopolitics Director and Deputy Political Director in the FCDO from 2022 to 2023.
Mark joined the Diplomatic Service in 2009 having previously worked as a journalist for ITN, primarily as a Producer on Channel 4 News. In London he worked in the FCO’s National Security Directorate, Americas Directorate and was also seconded to No 10 press office.
He has served overseas as Deputy UK Ambassador to Israel, at the UK Mission to the UN in New York as Head of Strategic Threats, as the Head of the UK Government Office in Goma, Eastern DR Congo and at the British High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan.
