Margaret Porteous

Biography

Margaret Porteous was appointed as Deputy Director of the Scotland Office in July 2011.

Prior to joining the Scotland Office, Margaret’s career highlights include:

  • Director, Energy and Advanced Engineering, UKTI (UK Trade & Investment) - responsible for UK government export and inward investment support, for UK companies in the automotive, aerospace, engineering, and energy sectors
  • Director, Marketing, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - responsible for strategic marketing and communications, including major campaigns such as firework safety
  • Head of Trade Development for Trade Partners (UKTI’s predecessor) - developing and delivering the Passport programme for SMEs new to exporting
  • Head, Subsea, Oil & Gas Industry Development, DTI – leading on subsea policy and delivery for the offshore oil & gas industry in the UKCS (UK Continental Shelf)
