Biography

The Rt Hon Margaret Beckett DBE MP was appointed to the Committee on Standards in Public Life on 1 November 2010 and was reappointed on 31 October 2016 for a further 3 years. She has been Labour MP for Derby South since 1983. Her previous roles include:

  • Chair of the Intelligence and Security Committee

  • Minister for Housing and Planning at the Department for Communities and Local Government

  • Secretary of State Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs

  • Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
