Biography

Marc Baker is Chief Operating Officer and joined Ofqual as Reform Programme Director in 2013 and subsequently became acting Executive Director, General Qualifications.

His previous roles include:

  • Programme Manager, Financial Conduct Authority
  • Programme Director, Solicitors Regulation Authority
  • Programme Manager, City of London Police
  • Principal Consultant, Symbia
  • Senior Consultant, Logica
  • Various roles in Royal Mail, including HR Director, Post Office Consulting

Chief Operating Officer, Ofqual

The COO (Chief Operating Officer) is responsible for:

  • directing, shaping and leading Ofqual’s regulatory operational activities
  • directing, shaping and leading Ofqual’s corporate and business services
  • contributing to Ofqual’s strategic leadership including the full range of their regulatory outcomes and statutory objectives

The COO is also the executive director for the organisation’s support services, which are:

  • human resources
  • finance
  • information management and technology
  • communications
  • customer services
  • procurement
  • project and programme management
