Lyanne Maclean MBE

Biography

Lyanne Maclean became Chief Operating Officer on 1st October 2019. Lyanne was a British Army Officer until 2013; leaving as a Colonel having commanded her Regiment and led soldiers in conflicts worldwide. She was awarded a QCVS for her work in Angola. Lyanne also served in the MoD, with NATO and the UN, and within Joint and Army HQs in various planning and policy roles. As the lead planning officer in London she was awarded a MBE for her leading role in Operation TAYBRIDGE and the contingency planning for the Capital in the wake of 9/11. Lyanne also planned and managed the contractual support to operations worldwide before a short tour within the Defence Equipment and Support Agency delivering equipment and facilities to operations. In Army HQ Lyanne ran the Army’s Future Reserves Programme resetting how the UK uses its Reservists. Finally as the COO to the largest Defence College in Europe she formulated the plan to transform from 5 independent schools into a federated College.

Over the last five years Lyanne has been with Royal Mail. As the Head of Fleet Services she has worked to transform Royal Mail’s UK Fleet through behaviours and data exploitation before leading Royal Mail’s Distribution operation in the south. Lyanne has strived to champion as a leading light in Women’s networks and by establishing Royal Mail’s LGBT + Network.
