Linda Cross

Biography

Linda Cross was British Ambassador in Ecuador 2008 to 2012.

Linda joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1978. Previously, she has served as FCO Assistant Director, Protocol Directorate (July 07 - March 08); FCO Operations Manager, Event Management Group (March 05 - July 07); Yekaterinburg, Her Majesty’s Consul General (Feb 01 - Feb 05); Baku, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul (July 98 - Jan 01); Tirana, Acting Head of Mission (August 97 - Sept 97); UKMis New York, Third, later Second Secretary (Jan 95 - July 97); Vienna, Third Secretary and Vice Consul (Feb 92 - Aug 94).

From March 78 to July 91 she had postings to Rabat, Prague, Quito, Washington and Paris, followed by a posting as Executive Secretary to Diplomatic Service Wives Association (now Diplomatic Service Families Association).

She was born in Dundee, Scotland and completed her secondary schooling at Forfar Academy. From there she went on to Dundee Commercial College to study business administration with languages (Spanish, French and German).

She later gained a BA (Hons) First Class from Leeds Metropolitan University in Hospitality and Business Management. Linda met her husband, Mike, when they were both working at the British Embassy in Paris and they were married in 1989.
