Laura Mazal

Biography

Laura Mazal is Development Director at the British Embassy in Kinshasa, ensuring strategic oversight of the UK’s development and humanitarian assistance in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Prior to this, Laura headed the Strategy & Delivery and Human Development Teams in the British Embassy in Kinshasa, with responsibility for WASH, education and health programming, including the UK’s support to Ebola responses.

From 2011 to 2019, she led a number of teams working on fragility and conflict issues, including on the UK Government’s aid effectiveness, governance and security in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and crisis response in the Sahel.

Laura joined the Department for International Development (DFID) in 2009 as a conflict and governance specialist, following a career working for a number of international NGOs, the UN and the UK’s Stabilisation Unit. She has worked in West Africa and the Sahel, Iraq, Afghanistan, Fiji and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
