Kobi Bentley

Biography

Kobi is the Humanitarian and Development Director for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) leading UK’s international development engagement in South Sudan.

Prior to South Sudan, Kobi was the Development Director (initially Country Director DFID) in Sierra Leone between 2019 and 2022. Previously she was Deputy Country Director, DFID Somalia (2016 to 2019), Governance and Economics Team Leader DFID Mozambique (2011 to 2016), and Economic Adviser DFID DRC (2008 to 2011), DFID Ethiopia (2006 to 2008) and in the Africa Policy Team (2004 to 2006). Before joining the UK government Kobi was as an ODI Fellow in Ghana, where she worked as an Economist in the Ministry of Education.

Kobi holds an MSc (2002) and a BSc (2000) in Economics, both from the London School of Economics. She speaks French and Portuguese.
