Biography

Kirsty Cooper is Company Secretary and General Counsel for Aviva. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Glasgow and is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales, as well as in Scotland. She is also a graduate of the INSEAD general manager programme.

Kirsty has over 25 years’ experience at Aviva, the UK’s largest insurer. She established the legal and secretarial function as a global team and her responsibilities include provision of legal services to the group, company secretarial services, public policy and corporate responsibility. She also supports the Chairman and the Board in the discharge of their responsibilities. She was appointed to the Group Executive in May 2012.

Kirsty is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Opera House and has previously served on the Board of the English National Ballet. In 2016 and 2017 she served as a member of the Dormant Assets Commission, which reported to Government in March 2017.

Non-executive Board Member

A Non-executive Board Member is responsible for constructively challenging, and providing guidance and support to, the Executive Board.

Dormant Assets Commissioner

Commissioners support the Chair in meeting the terms of reference for the Independent Dormant Assets Commission.
