Kevin White

Biography

Kevin White took up his post as director general of human resources (HR) in June 2007. His task in that role is to ensure that the department gets the best out of its people while supporting them in their growth and development.

Immediately before joining the Home Office, Kevin spent seven years as HR director general in the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Kevin held this role from the creation of the DWP in 2000, having spent the majority of his career working in DWP’s predecessor departments. He began his career in the civil service as a fast stream trainee in the Department for Employment, after short spells in academic research, school teaching and lorry driving.

Time spent working in the Manpower Services Commission and the Employment Service followed, before Kevin’s appointment as the Employment Service’s HR director in 1995 (a role which he held until joining the newly formed DWP). Kevin likes music (especially pop quizzes) and iPhone apps.
