Sir Kevin Tebbit KCB CMG

Biography

Sir Kevin Tebbit was Permanent Secretary at the UK Ministry of Defence from 1998 - 2005, following a period as Director of GCHQ. His initial career was with the Ministry of Defence, then, from 1979, with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. His diplomatic assignments included: First Secretary, UK Delegation to NATO; Head of Chancery, British Embassy Ankara; Director of Cabinet to the NATO Secretary General, Lord Carrington; Counsellor at the British Embassy in Washington DC; and Deputy Under Secretary for Defence and Intelligence.

Sir Kevin is now engaged in a variety of business, academic and associated activities in addition to his role on the Board of UKNWM Ltd. He is the Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs at Smiths Group Plc (after 12 years on the Smiths Board), UK Executive Vice President (Defence and Government) for AECOM Corporation and Chairs RISC (the Trade Associations for the UK Security Industry). He is a Visiting Professor at King’s College London, a Distinguished Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute, and serves on a number of academic Advisory Boards and Charitable Trusts.
