Professor Sir Keith Burnett CBE FRS

Biography

Professor Keith Burnett was appointed to the UK Atomic Energy Authority Board on 1 November 2010.

Career highlights:

  • he became Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield in 2007
  • he was Head of the Division of Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences at the University of Oxford, having been a professor of Physics there for almost twenty years
  • his research is in the area of ultra cold atomic physics, and from 2001 to 2007 he was Chair of the Fusion Advisory Board which advised the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and hence the Authority on fusion strategy
  • he is a member of the Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology
