Katharine Ransome

Biography

Katy Ransome is His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Mali. Previously she was the Head of Gender and Conflict, in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Conflict, Stabilisation and Mediation Directorate. Katy was Her Majesty’s British High Commissioner to Botswana from February 2016 to March 2020.

Katy joined the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in 1995 and has since worked in multiple departments including political and security. Her previous diplomatic postings include Antananarivo, Kabul and Budapest.

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the embassy and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and consular services.
