Kate Bright

Biography

Kate was appointed as a non-executive director of the SIA in February 2020.

Career

Kate has worked in and with private security for 20 years. She is trained in close protection and worked as a Chief of Staff to international wealthy families in London from 2000 to 2015. She then set up the award-winning, security-focused recruitment and concierge firm UMBRA International Group. She was shortlisted as Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year in the Citywealth awards in 2019, and was asked to give a Tedx talk in 2018 on the topic of ‘Invisible Security’.

Kate is a member of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals and a Trustee of their Charitable Trust, as well as a member of the Security Institute and Royal United Services Institute. She is a Companion of the Institute of Leadership & Management and sits on the British Army Gender Advisory Council, under the guidance of the Army’s Gender Champion, Commander Field Army Lieutenant General Ivan Jones CB. She is a Freeman of the City of London.
