Karen was appointed Director General for Border Co-ordination at HM Revenue and Customs on 3 July 2017.
She brings with her extensive experience of delivering major change programmes in the private sector, government, and most recently NHS England. Karen has also previously worked in the Ministry of Justice and Cabinet Office.
She was awarded the CBE in 2007 for her work with the courts.
Director General, Borders
This is a new cross government role, designed specifically to co-ordinate and assure all the work which is necessary to ensure UK borders continue to be effective and efficient, as we exit the EU in 2019, and continue to protect security, revenue and facilitate all cross border traffic and trade.
The role will also lead on and co-ordinate the longer term work to deliver a more “frictionless” border, post exit.
