Julian Miller

Biography

Julian Miller was appointed Deputy National Security Adviser in July 2010 and has worked in the Cabinet Office since September 2009.

Julian joined the Civil Service in 1980. He has spent most of his career in the Ministry of Defence (MOD). Career highlights include:

  • MOD Director roles covering military personnel, budgets and security
  • Chief of the Assessments Staff (in the Cabinet Office)
  • Private Secretary to the Defence Secretary
  • Defence budget and programmes, including work on the Strategic Defence Review
  • UK Delegation to NATO

  • Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser and Deputy National Security Adviser
