Julia Bond was appointed as non-executive member of the FCO Board in April 2011. She has a keen interest in the way that the UK is represented abroad from an industry standpoint.
Julia has spent most of her career at Credit Suisse rising through the ranks to Managing Director, a post she held from 1997 to 2009. She has experience of operating in Europe, Asia and the US and has also led on issues such as diversity, talent management and change management. Her current roles include:

- non-executive director, Central London Community Healthcare Trust
- trustee of Womankind Worldwide
- vice president of the City Women’s Network

Board members give corporate leadership to the FCO by ensuring that the department meets the foreign policy priorities, Public Service Agreements targets and service delivery targets set by ministers. The role of a Non-Executive Board Member is to provide an effective and objective challenge to the rest of the Board and officials.
