Jonathan Sinclair LVO

Biography

Jonathan Sinclair was the Director of Human Resources at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, later the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, from October 2018 to February 2021. He was previously the Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. Before that he was the British High Commissioner to New Zealand from August 2014 until January 2018.

Jonathan joined the UK Foreign Office in 1996 after completing a Masters in International Relations and short stints in media and tourism. He has previously served in India and the USA and, in London, has done a wide range of roles where foreign and domestic policies and politics intersect, including on Europe, national security, and trade and investment. Jonathan is married to Helen and they have 1 son and 2 daughters.
