Jonathan Duff

Biography

Jonathan Duff started his role as Regional Director for the East of England in September 2022.

He was previously the Regional Schools Commissioner for East of England and North-East London.

Prior to this, Jonathan was Director of Services and Operations for the Department for Education Regional Delivery Directorate. Before that, he was Director of the Regional Schools Commissioner’s Office for South-East England and the South of London.

Earlier in his career, Jonathan has also worked on:

  • delivery of the academies programme
  • reforms to teachers’ pay and conditions
  • legislation for young people aged 16 to 25 with special educational needs
  • qualifications delivery and curriculum policy

Regional Director for East of England

The Regional Director for the East of England is responsible for working locally across children’s social care, SEND, schools and area-based programmes to improve outcomes for children, families and learners. They are responsible for making decisions in the following local authorities:

  • Bedford
  • Cambridgeshire
  • Central Bedfordshire
  • Essex
  • Hertfordshire
  • Luton
  • Norfolk
  • Peterborough
  • Southend-on-Sea
  • Suffolk
  • Thurrock
