John Derrick
Biography
John Derrick is Deputy Director Americas and Africa, Bilateral Trade Relations, in the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). John is on loan to DBT from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
His last FCDO role was Deputy Head of Mission and Consul-General at the British Embassy in Chile from October 2017 to July 2022.
He has served in a number of UK roles working for different Government departments, including the FCDO, Home Office, Stabilisation Unit and DBT.
John’s postings overseas have included Brussels, Islamabad, Helmand (south Afghanistan) and Santiago. They have also included secondments to the European Commission and an exchange programme with the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
